Message from the Principal

Tim Ripp principal

Dear Mesa Verde Families,

It’s with great joy that we welcome you to a new school year! Our school is more than a place to learn—it’s a community where students, teachers, and families come together to support one another and grow.

We believe that when families and schools partner closely, children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Thank you for the care and attention you give your child each day—it matters more than you know.

Here are a few helpful ways you can stay involved this year:

  • Create a calm space for learning: A cozy homework spot and regular schedule help children focus and succeed.
  • Read together often: Whether you’re reading aloud or listening to your child read, it makes a big impact.
  • Encourage balance: Screen time is part of life, but help your child balance it with movement, rest, and play.
  • Recognize growth: Every child learns at their own pace, be sure to notice and celebrate their efforts.
  • Keep in touch: Please use ParentSquare to reach out with any questions or ideas. We value your voice!

Together, we’ll make this a wonderful year full of learning, discovery, and community connection.

With appreciation,

Tim Ripp

More Information

Built in 1978, Mesa Verde is a K-5 Elementary School with an enrollment of approximately 300 students. Being a smaller school, there is a real family feel. We are "tucked away" in quiet neighborhood called Mesaland which features older homes on large two acre lots.  In the 2024-2025 school year there are 13 general education classrooms and three self-contained special education classrooms including a K-2 cross-categorical and 3-5 cross-categorical.

The Mesa Verde Staff Family includes 13 general education teachers, 5 specialist teachers, 5 special education teachers, 11 special education support staff, a part time school psychologist, a library assistant, a health aide, an instructional technology assistant, a behavior intervention monitor, an attendance clerk, an educational assistant, an administrative assistant, 2 custodians, 3 campus monitors, 3 cafeteria staff, 3 bus drivers, and 2 Community Extension Program Directors. The staff is dedicated to working together to provide a “village” of support for our students and families.

Mesa Verde has very high expectations for all students both academically and behaviorally. Staff members do a wonderful job helping students acquire the skills necessary for solving conflicts using a variety of methods. Staff reinforce the components of our code when speaking with students.  We have the PAWS Ticket Program, Student Council, and numerous afterschool programs that help teach the importance of caring for others, being kind to others, listening to ideas, and helping to improve Mesa Verde.

Mesa Verde believes in helping the community and giving back. One of the ways we do this is by participating in a Healthy Heart Day to raise money for the American Heart Association as well as to promote fitness. Some other student programs at Mesa Verde include Odyssey of the Mind, the School and District wide Spelling Bee, Track Meet for 4th and 5th graders, Music, Band, Orchestra, 2nd-5th Grade Choir, and Art. Students receive awards for Academic Achievement, Spreading Kindness, and more.

  • Mesa Verde Elementary School is a community dedicated to building a strong foundation for each child to reach their full potential.

  • Our vision is to empower innovative learners who are confident, respectful and compassionate leaders in society.

  • At Mesa Verde We PAWS:

    • Practice Kindness
    • Act Responsibly
    • Work Cooperatively
    • Stay Safe
  • “We Just Can’t Hide Our Mesa Verde Pride!”

  • “Educate the whole child.”
